Will I need to replace modules after updating or will just updating the mod files be enough?
What about the vanilla "mobile mortar team" groups? Those were the types of artillery I was using for 2 of the teams. But the regular stuff I know should work wasn't working either; like choppers for CAS and transport.
I am trying to just use editor placed squads to serve as each side's Player Combat Support units, but I am having issues getting them to actually be available on the CI2STAR interface. I have the right script snippet in the init fields, though I could be putting them in the wrong init. Who should get the init code? The vehicles themselves or the squad leader in charge of them?
As far as syncing goes: I don't need to use the pre-defined support type modules (Arty, Transport, CAS modules) at all if I am syncing the units directly to the main CS Module, right?
Can I use the Independent FIA faction in ALIVE's modules or is it limited to only BLU_G_F and OPF_G_F? They're not listed as a supported faction on the wiki, and the last time I tried using them it wasn't working, but that was quite some time ago so it could have changed.
@SpyderBlack723 Yes you would separate them with a comma, it doesn't matter if there is a space after the comma
["building_1","building_2","building_3"],["building_1", "building_2", "building_3"],Would both work
Think about it the same way you would enter TAOR markers for an ALiVE module. It's the same thing except you need
" "
around each entry and the containing[]
around all entries as seen above (and of course the comma at the very end of the line after the]
).
Do you recommend using all 3 types used for the mosques on Takistan/Zargabad or just the main "HQ" one? If they take up positions in the building as defined by the building, I think I need to use all 3 because the main, middle part only has like 2 spots.
It'd be sweet if it could make them gather in the main empty room, sit in a grid and do the kneeling animation, but I know the AI is really finicky about walking around inside buildings.
I just realized the Civilians are not finished in CUP. It has all of (or most of) the vehicles, and the Chernarus civs, but not the Takistan or others. Might be why my game was crashing with the CTP script; was trying to spawn stuff that did not exist! lol
The Chernarus ones look pretty decent on Takistan, though. And the clothes are there so you could just re-dress them with a script. The variety is really nice though, especially with the priests and cops.
The non-civ factions are complete though.
I have had the same problem ever since EDEN came out. Doesn't matter if I use default units or not. It doesn't even work with "respawn_west" type markers. I've just been using the built in Respawn Position modules instead, but it's not as fun as the helo insertion.
@SavageCDN Thanks for the update.. .sorry your post probably got lost in the noise of this forum :)
Good to know playing as the insurgent is working well - I can make a feature request for insurgent-style missions and/or logistics although it might not get looked at until after the open source release of ALiVE.
S'all good. I can just come up with a more unique way of handling player logistics for Insurgents in the mean time. Gives me a reason to work on a sort of barter/store system as I would imagine insurgents would be funding their war with drug money and not tax payer dollars, so I can do something to reflect that. :)
The ones provided in CUP work perfectly. They have everything that ARMA 2 had, and a little bit more. I'm actually working on a Takistan insurgency mission right now using them. The only thing I wish I could do is use the provided Suicide Vest on ALIVE's suicide bombers instead of their scripted 'suicide belt.'
I just went ahead and made my thing. Pretty basic Insurgency, but with player slots on OPFOR. It plays pretty fine, except that they can't call for logistical help. I'll have to make my own thing so they can get reinforced by at least a convoy or something.
I am curious what's going on with the task system thing. I know there are no Insurgency specific things, but it would be cool if it did, for both sides so if you were playing as the insurgents, you had missions to set up roadside IEDs and ambush the other team's convoys, etc. If you wouldn't mind taking example submissions of these types of things, I could make a few for it. :)
