@AUTigerGrad I'll post my Vanilla/CSAT Modification Altis full map ALiVE Battlefield sometime this weekend.

Thanks. That's a fun mission. Looking forward to it.

And thanks Spyder for the clarification on that. Looking forward to any updates you have too. :)

You are a member of the elite Pathfinder Platoon, Britain's elite recon unit of the 16th Air Assault Brigade. Your mission is to travel deep insde Taliban territory and locate areas of Taliban resistance. Though you work as a small unit, you have an enormous amount of support, such as Artillery, Close Air Wildcat Attack Helicopters, and Fighter Bomber support. You can also call in reinforcements to help take and hold key positions. The British Army Presence is strong around your FOB of Rasman Airbase, but beware....the further you drive, the more dangerous it becomes.

This is a fully functioning, ALiVE campaign with a fully fleshed out Airbase featuring JBAD Buildings, a fleshed out Spec Ops Hangar, Vehicle Spawners, Troop Spawners, and a plethora of other goodies. If you've played my other British Afghanistan campaigns, then you know you'll get a slew of IEDs, suicide bombers, hit and run attacks, ambient animal life such as herds of goats and sheep, Civilian traffic with suicide attacks and insurgents disguised as Civs, and lots of Taliban installations to blow up. Remember, when you discover a Taliban installation..you must destroy the building with explosives to remove it. The mission is built for persistance and the files can be downloaded for your own dedicated server in the link below. As always, I hope you enjoy it.

**CBA NOTE** Always remember to move enable_auto_XEH and its bisign from the optional file folder to the CBA addons folder. This is critical for enabling several ACE and ALiVE features. If you subscribe to CBA on steam, you'll need to do this each time you launch because Steam always resets optional folders back to the optional location when you restart the launcher.

If you don't know how ALiVE works...I HIGHLY recommend you going to alivemod.com and checking it out. There is a full WIKI that will tell you everything you need to know.

We are currently running this mission on our private server and having a blast.

DO NOT RUN ANY CUP MODS AT ALL WHEN JOINING THE SERVER. NO CUP VEHICLES, NO CUP WEAPONS, NO CUP UNITS They throw lots of script errors.

You should run ONLY these mods when joining the server except client side mods like Shack Tac Hud (navigation) or your Soundmod of Choice (Dragonfyre, Dynasound, etc.)

DO NOT RUN EXTRA WEAPONS OR UNIT PACKS!

Come on in and join us!!!

  4. Is there a template for a HUGE batlle in a small map? I think 1200 units way to little. And it seems then I would need to put to armies on each side. Is this how it should be done? For a basic head to head. I just wanted to be on a frontline or close of a huge battle.

Anyway, what's the biggest war template availible?

  5. Basic Template #1 is a pretty intense battle. It uses Stratis for the map, and at least 400 units on each side (as far as I can remember). If it's still not enough units to fit your tastes you can increase the count in the modules.

Yeah, I made 1200 on each side at south Sarrani and want to double that. I'm just curious on how you make that, just add a new army commander on the same side? Or whatever is the module where you choose army size....

And I'm not confident that I can make the right edit on that, and I'm sure more people can look after such things, so I was trying to suggest a new template. Besides that, I'm looking forward to compare your templates with my noob ones....
just saying.... I could actually try to make one for this tread myself. :D

  8. @HeroesandvillainsOS  If anyone wants to make some insurgency mission templates together, I have a sales pitch for you here :) :

    https://forums.bistudio.com/topic/159708-alive-advanced-light-infantry-virtual-environment/page-353

If you want to do something like this to keep your mission changes tracked and available for feedback/contributions, I'd be willing to take a look occasionally or help you work through any specific issues. As you can see from the link, I'm working on something similar for a few friends, but I've only started my Arma authoring journey in the last couple of months, so I don't have a lot of experience to draw from.

  9. I can tell by the resolved and tracked issues you have much more experience than me. LOL! That's actually a really great idea (the github). If someone with a deeper skill set than what I current possess (which would be anyone, actually :) ) hops on board, I'll definitely start a page just like yours. I just don't have the knowledge to fix any of the bugs unless they reside within the modules themselves, making a site like that sort of moot.

I'd also like to try your mission. :)

  10. Github works just fine for distribution even if you don't make use of the bugtracking and related features. Having the ability to look through a folder directory or the download is nice as well to any possible users.

  11. would someone be willing to make a Wasteland (A3 Wasteland) style mission/mission template for ALiVE?

  14. Once you play it you'll take that back. :(

    We alll started somewhere ;)

  16. Don't worry.. my very first mission (more of an edit for Domination) in Arma 2 I fucked up a halo script and ended up killing all players about 30 seconds after mission start ;) This was on a public server too... so always test before release especially in MP!

Congrats will try to find some time to play it this weekend.

Ha! Yeah I don't think any mistakes I made will kill everyone on mission start so I guess I can feel good about that. What I think I'll do is let the mission breathe here and in the ALiVE thread for a day or two before actually posting it in the User Mission area on BIS. But before doing that I should probably have a "name" for it. Any ideas are welcome. How does Operation Shitshow sound? :)

I'd love for you to try it Savage! That would mean a lot. I think it's actually pretty decent and polished (famous last words). And fun! I've been messing with making this for I'd say around 50 + hours or so. Any feedback would be great. The documentation on ALiVE is a little loose so I'm sure I made some obvious missteps.

Any impressions at all would be fantastic. Thanks for all the help.

  18. thanks a lot for this mission, i go to play on reshmaan now :)

Cool Sam. Thanks for trying it. Let me know if you have any issues or have any questions! If this is your first time playing an Assymetric Insurgency ALiVE mission, you may have some basic "how to play" questions too. If you get hung up I'll be more than happy to help.

Just a heads up to anyone looking to download Operation Landlord. I had a real tough time getting the mission to load with the ALiVE Data module and persistence enabled on my dedicated server until as a last ditch effort, I changed the mission name to "Operation_Landlord.Altis"

I don't think War Room likes the %20% stuff.

Just a total guess but that's what I needed to do to get it to run on a dedicated server. I'm sure someone will come on here and prove me wrong but I tried a bunch of times and it wasn't until this change that the mission would load.
